As the race to develop the COVID-19 vaccine continues Italy claims to have developed the world’s first Coronavirus vaccine. According to the Italian news agency, ANSA a firm called Takis has developed the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine has antibodies generated in mice that may work on human cells too. Tests were conducted in Rome’s Spallanzani Hospital.

” This is the most advanced stage of testing of a candidate vaccine created in Itlay”, said Luigi Aurisicchio, CEO Takis. The CEO also stated that for the first time in the world a candidate for the COVID-19 vaccine has neutralized the virus. He said it is expected to work on humans as well. The CEO said that tests on humans will be done after summer. The vaccines being developed are based on the genetic material of DNA known as ‘spike’ The researchers observed that five candidate vaccines have generated a large number of antibodies.

Researchers are working day and night to develop vaccine

” So far, the immunity generated by most of our five vaccine candidates has an effect on the virus. We expect better results after the second vaccination”, said Dr. Emmanuele Marra, Researcher Takis.

Coronavirus cases have crossed over 3 million across the world. So far it has claimed over 200 thousand lives.
